Book published by Fujie Tang

PhD thesis selected as "Outstanding PhD research thesis" by Springer

The PhD thesis "Structures and Dynamics of Interfacial Water - Input from Theoretical Vibrational Sum-frequency Spectroscopy" of Fujie Tang has been published as an "Outstanding PhD research thesis" by Springer. The series “Springer Theses” brings together a selection of the very best Ph.D. theses from around the world and across the physical sciences.

In his thesis, Fujie Tang investigated the structure and dynamics of water molecules at the liquid water-air and ice-air interfaces with theoretical methods using molecular dynamics simulation and vibrational spectroscopy theory. He developed a simulation tool to analyze the dangling O-H group at these interfaces. By focusing on the dangling O-H group at the ice-air interface, Fujie discovered the anomaly of water - excess hydrogen bonds - at the ice-air interface around 200 K.

Fujie Tang has been a PhD researcher at the Max Planck Institute for Polymer Research and Peking University until 2018. After PhD, he moved to the Temple University as a postdoctoral researcher.
